THE HOMEBUYING PROCESS

A smooth homebuying process requires STRATEGY.
Our team will learn about your needs, budget, and timeline to navigate you to the finish line seamlessly.

1. CHOOSE AN AGENT

The agent you hire can make or break your homebuying experience. Look for an agent that’s reputable, responsive, and has worked with homes like those you’re interested in buying. Their expertise will be vital in guiding you through the process, educating you on the market, and sending you desirable properties.

2. PREPARE FINANCES

If you’re not paying for your home in cash, you will need to secure financing. Talk to your agent’s trusted lender about your budget to determine a loan option that’s right for you. The lender will assess your credit, finances, and job history to determine how much “house” you can afford.

3. SHOP FOR HOMES

Think about what’s important to you --bedrooms, yard space, schools, proximity to work or recreational activities before starting the search. Narrow down the communities you’re interested in. Ride around the areas to envision life living there. Then, your agent will schedule tours of your properties of interest.

4. OFFER & NEGOTIATION

Your agent will provide valuable insights about the local market to help you craft a strong, strategic offer. Be sure to lean on your agent’s expertise at this stage. The specific property, your financing, and recent activity in the area will determine what it takes to win.

5. ESCROW & INSPECTIONS

Once your offer is accepted and your initial deposit has been paid, you are now under contract or “in escrow”. At this time, you can inspect and appraise the property to ensure it’s of satisfactory condition and value.

6. CLOSING DAY

Closing is when ownership of the property is transferred from the seller to the buyer. At closing, you will sign the closing documents summarizing the details of the transaction and outlining the terms of your financing (if applicable). Once all funds have been disbursed to the seller, you will received your keys!

Is your income stable? Do you plan to live in the area for at least 3 years? If so, talk to a mortgage lender to determine how much house you can afford. At that point, you can compare your budget to the price of the homes you’re interested in to see if it’s the right time for you to buy.
